How agents differ, without a league table

Shopping agents are more alike than their marketing suggests. The differences that matter are structural, and you can check them yourself on any agent's public pages.

The common shopping-agent workflow

Buying services commonly connect domestic purchasing with warehouse handling and international shipping. Marketplace support, route restrictions, inspection scope, payment costs and return arrangements can differ.

Compare eligible routes for the actual destination and contents. Similar route names do not establish identical charges, compensation or handling terms; ask for the complete packed-parcel quote.

An agent that claims to be categorically different on any of those three is describing marketing, not logistics.

The real axes

Six things that genuinely vary

  • Fees

Service fee, exchange-rate markup, payment surcharges. The markup is the one people miss, because it never appears as a line item. Compare the total for one identical basket, not the headline rate.

  • Which platforms

Not every agent takes every marketplace. EastMallBuy's page titles name Taobao, Tmall, Jingdong, 1688.

  • What a check includes

Read the exclusions, not the promises. That paragraph differs meaningfully between agents.

  • Storage terms

How long goods sit free, and what happens after. Published by some, not by others.

  • Who carries the risk

Whether the agent accepts any liability on the international leg, or passes you to the carrier's standard.

  • Whether you can find the company

A registered name and address you can look up, or nothing at all.

Those six are checkable from public pages in about ten minutes per agent. That is worth more than any ranking, including one we could write.

Five of the six live in the agreement and the policy pages, which is why those are the pages to open first.

Why there is no top five here

A ranking would have to be invented

Service quality, speed and the risk of an agent taking your money have no reproducible public data source. The public pages do not establish dispute rates. So a numbered ranking would be a number we made up, dressed as a measurement.

What can be stated with a source: a published fee, a named platform, a written liability clause, a registered company. Those are on this site, with the date we read them. Anything softer than that is a guess, and a guess with a referral link attached is worth even less.
